Enhanced Login Security

Enhanced Login Security is Here

If you use OnLine banking at Centris, we want to help you protect your online identity, combat phishing attacks, and prevent fraud. You now can more securely identify yourself when logging into OnLine with a simple process called Enhanced Login Security. ELS identifies you as the true "owner" of your account by not only recognizing your password but your computer also.

If you log in from a computer that Centris doesn't recognize, we'll ask you for information that only you will know, as an additional line of defense to prevent unauthorized access. With Enhanced Login Security, you're protected on whatever computer you are using, whether you're at home or on the go. It's just one more way to ensure online fraud prevention, everyday and everywhere. Visit our OnLine Member Security Center to learn more on how to protect yourself.

How do I set my computer up for this?

When logging in to OnLine, a prompt will appear and ask you if you wish to add extra security protection to your online account. You will be directed to the User Option/Enhanced Login Security setup screen. You can select to add the security to your computer at that time. If you have not enabled the 'Forgotten Password Feature', you will be asked to set up three challenge questions.

Only you will know the answers to these questions. These questions and answers can be changed at any time in your OnLine User Options/Challenge Questions section. You will be prompted for these answers should you log into a machine that has not been registered. Once a computer is registered you will not have to answer these questions.

Signing up for this feature also automatically signs you up for the Forgotten Password option. This feature allows you to reset your OnLine PIN if you forget it. You can re-set it yourself after you answer the three questions correctly.

How do I register other Computers?

Just log into OnLine, you will be presented with the challenge questions that you set up earlier. Go to the User Options/Enhanced Login Security link and enroll that computer. This registration will only need to be done again if:

  • You replace your computer
  • Certain software or hardware becomes damaged
  • You delete your computer cookies
  • You forget your Challenge Question, and call Centris to have your OnLine PIN re-set.

NOTE: If you decide not to register your computer, then once ELS becomes mandatory (12/06/2006), you must answer your challenge question (after entering your account number and PIN) each time you want to access OnLine.

I'm trying to get access OnLine and there's a screen asking for answers to my Challenge Questions. Why?

Answer: a) If you are at a different computer than you usually use and it is not registered for ELS, you are required to answer these questions to access OnLine. You can register that computer at that time by selecting the Enahnced Security option located in User Options.

Answer: b) If you are at your usual computer and had already registered your computer through ELS, but somehow your computer's cookies got deleted, you must answer your Challenge Question, then re-register your computer by clicking the Enhanced Login Security link in the User Options page in OnLine, then follow the quick and easy directions. Please check that the computer is signed up for ELS  under the User Options area.

Answer: C) On MAC computers, we have found that you must signup for ELS service. You will not see the challenge questions after signup that computer.

I am already enrolled in the Forgotten Password feature, will I need to set up new questions?

Yes, The Forgotten Password feature and Enhance Login Security share the same questions. You will be prompted with a new group of questions of which you can select three. Your old questions & answers will not be valid as of 10/10/2006.

Do I need to enroll each account that I have?

Yes, you will need to login and enroll each Online account that you have.

I use several browsers on my computer, are there any restrictions?

If you use different browsers (like Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari) on the same computer, you will need to log into OnLine separately using each browser and complete the ELS registration for each browser.

When will ELS authentication become mandatory?

As of 12/06/2006 this option will be mandatory for all OnLine accounts.

What If I Forget my Challenge Questions?

Call our Account Services Department during regular business hours to have your access re-set. When back at the computer you had registered, you will need to re-register it and input a new Challenge Question.

Do I need to have cookies enabled in my browser?

Yes, our online system requires cookies to be enabled to work correctly.

For my own reasons, I delete my computer's cookies often. Will I need to answer the Challenge Question each time I want to access Online from that computer?

Yes. For your own protection, the ELS feature requires that an ELS-related cookie be present on your computer at all times. Cookies are used to securely identify your computer; they are just harmless text files that can be deleted at any time, are neither plug-ins nor programs, cannot be used to spread viruses, and cannot access your hard drive.

I often use a computer at the library or an internet cafe to access my OnLine account. Should I register those computers so I don't have to answer the Challenge Questions each time?

Even though you can, you should NOT register a public computer, due to security issues. It is better to continue to answer the Challenge Questions to access OnLine from these computers.

I share my computer with someone that also uses OnLine. Can both of us still login from the same computer?

Yes. You can use the same computer to login to your individual accounts safely; you will not be able to access each others information. This is because your secure cookie is linked to only your login information. There is no limit as to how many secure cookies can be installed on the same computer. Just remember to never share your Member Number or PIN with anyone.

I don't want to register my computer. Can I still access OnLine?

Yes, you can. You are required to set up the Forgotten Password feature. You will receive challenge questions every time you log on.

Can I unenroll my computer ?
