Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay is a service where Centris will strive to pay eligible items** and transactions. The standard service that comes with your checking account will strive to pay checks, ACH and recurring debit card transactions. You may also extend the service to your debit card for ATM and one-time debit card transactions. With Courtesy Pay, an overdraft fee*** may apply but also may potentially avoid fees from the merchant for a returned item.

With Courtesy Pay, Centris will
automatically strive to pay:

Extend Courtesy Pay to
your debit card:

Checks

ACH transactions

Recurring debit card transactions

ATM transactions

One-time debit card transactions

Overdraft Protection and Courtesy Pay FAQs

How does Centris determine the available balance of my account?

Your available balance is the amount of money in your account that is available for you to use. Your available balance is your actual balance less: (1) holds placed on deposits; (2) holds on debit card or other transactions that have been authorized but are not yet posted; and (3) any other holds, such as holds related to pledges of account funds and minimum balance requirements or to comply with court orders.

We use your available balance to determine whether there are sufficient funds in your account to pay items, including checks, as well as ACH, debit card and other electronic transactions (if opted into that service). We also use the available balance to determine whether to charge an overdraft fee if we decide to pay an item.

How do I enroll in Overdraft Protection?

If you would like to enroll in Overdraft Protection, you will need to contact us via phone (402) 334-7000 or toll free at (800) 334-2328, via online banking or in person at any of our convenient locations.

What is included in the standard Courtesy Pay that comes with my account?

We may authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:

  • Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number
  • Automatic bill payments or automated clearing house (ACH) transactions
  • Recurring debit card transactions.

With the standard Courtesy Pay, we do not authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions, unless you sign up or opt in for this service:

    • ATM transactions
    • One-time (everyday) debit card transactions
How do I opt-in to have Centris authorize and pay ATM and one-time debit card transactions?

If you would like to opt in to the extended service of Centris Courtesy Pay, you will need to contact us via phone (402) 334-7000 or toll free at (800) 334-2328, via online banking or in person at any of our convenient locations.

Can I opt out of the extended services of Courtesy Pay to no longer have Centris authorize and pay ATM and one-time debit card overdraft transactions?

You can opt out of the extended Courtesy Pay ATM and one-time debit card transaction services at any time by contacting us. At that time, you can also decline the standard Courtesy Pay service that comes with your account.

To opt out of either service, you will need to contact us by phone (402) 334-7000 or toll free at (800) 334-2328, via online banking or by visiting any of our convenient locations to meet with one of our experts.

We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined. Centris reserves the right to suspend your ability to use Courtesy Pay at any time at Centris’ sole discretion. ***If Courtesy Pay is used, an overdraft fee of $35 will be charged for each paid overdraft, up to the daily overdraft fee limit.
